Joan Pavitt

"Ten years ago the Bishop of my Diocese, Bishop David Walker wrote an article in the Diocesan magazine inviting women to form a new association. The principal aim of the association was to help him with the pastoral care of the diocese while giving women a chance of leadership roles. I joined this group and have been working full time in parishes for the last 9 years. I am a qualified psychologist, a trained psychotherapist, I have a Master of Divinity and I am just finishing my studies in Spiritual Direction. I conduct Communion Services, prepare Funerals, run the Baptismal Preparation Program, coordinate Adult Faith Education assist at all weekend Masses and provide Spiritual Direction, Counselling and Pastoral Care to all who want it. Yes I would like to have the title of Deacon."
